Helpful Tips to Entice Customers and Leads on Pinterest

Do you know which keywords pinners are using to find your products? If you want to draw prospects back to your website, you need to know what interests Pinterest users and what will keep them engaged so your products are familiar when they appear on a pinner’s feed. But before you can do that, you’ll need to know who your audience is. From there, thinking about how to promote content that appeals to them will be much easier.

Stay focused: Define and entice your audiences

Pinterest is used for inspiration. Knowing this, how can you inspire your audience with content that sells your products? After you’ve identified pinners – business or people – that could be potential prospects, build a content calendar that appeals to that ideal audience. Encourage users to pin items to increase exposure and respond to users whose pins are on trend with your brand. It’ll make it easier to approach a lead if you’ve already built familiarity with who you are and what they need. To grow an audience, consider promoting a pin so it will appear in relevant places to an audience you’ve defined. You can use these results to benchmark with your typical organic engagement tactics to see if this approach defines stronger leads.

Don't go overboard: Use keywords and hashtags appropriately

Make sure your board name can be easily searched for; the more searchable the name, the more likely your board will appear in user’s search results. When uploading content, add keywords and hashtags that are descriptive and relevant to your products so they also appear in search results. As a rule, don’t use too many hashtags in one post – generally, the rule is no more than two. When relevant, use a unique hashtag to track your pins. And don’t forget to sign up for PinAlerts so you’re alerted when a product from your website has been pinned. Based on which pins are most popular, you can decide to use strategic keywords and hashtags to further increase their exposure.

Have some fun: Engage customers and leads with promotions and giveaways

Just like any other channel, promotions will increase your engagement and are a practical idea because you can get feedback on products, establish your expertise, increase overall awareness of your brand and get more traffic to your website. Use this opportunity to share a new product and give one away if pinners follow you, sign up for your email newsletter or if they share the pin. If you already have a well-known brand, create a board that allows for engagement from users who have already purchased your products – especially because you know it will inspire your leads. The key here is making it easy and fun for customers and leads to enter a contest so you can not only increase engagement but grow your list of prospects.
